Vulnerability

“30 Days of Self Reflection for The New Year is a challenge that reminds us of our higher potential and push us to thrive in 2018. Through reflections of our past experiences and year, we will discover the essential and transformation qualities we need to develop to become whole and fulfilled, to grow and expand. In other words, the key to our journey is self-realization.”

What have you learned about yourself by exploring your feelings and thoughts about vulnerability? How has vulnerability change your connections with people?

There’s a mysterious mask. A mask that I’ve put on most of my life. This mask is something we’ve all had were. A mask of pretending or hiding from our feelings from others but, I never quite understood why a mysterious mask appeared on our faces. It’s a mask that we put on to not show our emotions about anything. I’ve came to realization that I’m not a robot, and the fact of the matter is I’m human (who’s not perfect). Duhh, Stacey we know you’re a human what does that has to do with anything? Lol.

Have you been told to not show emotions or if you show emotions you’re a weak person? I’ve been told so many times how soft I am whenever I have those off days. We had to stay strong and how can we forget repeatedly of don’t forget to smile through the pain but, why would I want to smile through a pain that I should cry, scream, yell & etc.… So, what I’ve learned about vulnerability is don’t be afraid to show your emotions, it’s okay to have your moments here and there. This way of thinking has changed my vulnerably of understanding that not everyone is going to be okay. Sometimes, best way to comfort someone is with powerful words or just a “how are you today?” you’ll be surprised of how many people will open to you by just checking up on them.

Side Note: DON’T hide your feelings. DON’T avoid your feelings nor be afraid to talk about your feelings. If you need a moment, please unplug and take a moment to yourself.
